Rod Laver won all four major singles championships in 1962, completing his first Calendar Grand Slam and establishing himself as the dominant player of the amateur era.

In 1971, Rod Laver became the first tennis player to surpass one million dollars in career prize money. The milestone reflected not only his extraordinary success but also the rapid transformation of tennis into a modern professional sport.

Rod Laver returned to represent Australia in the Davis Cup in 1973 and helped his country defeat the United States in the final. His return to the competition added another important chapter to a career that had already spanned the amateur and professional eras.
