Justine Henin combined exquisite technique, fierce competitiveness and one of tennis history's most celebrated one-handed backhands. The Belgian won seven Grand Slam singles titles, 43 WTA titles, Olympic gold and spent 117 weeks as World No.1.
Justine Henin rose from Belgium to become the dominant all-surface champion of the mid-2000s. Her compact stature contrasted with a complete technical game built around movement, variety and a spectacular one-handed backhand. Henin won her first major at Roland Garros in 2003 and later that season captured the US Open. She added the Australian Open in 2004 and Olympic singles gold in Athens. Paris became her defining stage: Henin won four Roland Garros titles, including three consecutive championships from 2005 through 2007. She finished three seasons as year-end World No.1.
