Boris Becker burst into global tennis as a 17-year-old Wimbledon champion and became one of the most explosive serve-and-volley players of his era. The German won six Grand Slam singles titles, 49 tour-level titles and reached World No.1.
Boris Becker changed the atmosphere of Wimbledon in 1985 when, at 17, he became the youngest men's singles champion in the tournament's history. His diving volleys, huge serve and fearless attacking instincts made him an immediate global star. Becker defended Wimbledon in 1986 and won a third title there in 1989, the same year he captured the US Open. He later won the Australian Open in 1991 and 1996. His rivalry with Stefan Edberg produced three consecutive Wimbledon finals from 1988 through 1990. Becker reached World No.1 in 1991 and finished his career with six major singles titles and 49 tour-level trophies.
